Each program is described by a Program Summary which  can be found in the Program Index.  Each Program Summary contains a link to the actual program. The distribution format is indicated in the Program Summary and is normally:

• a gzipped file (catalogue_identifier.gz);
• a tar gzipped file (catalogue_identifier.tar.gz);
• a jar gzipped file (catalogue_identifier.jar.gz);
• a zipped file (catalogue_identifier.zip).

Restoring programs

• DOS, OS/2, Windows

  Use WinZip or a similar tool. Information on WinZip is given at http://www.winzip.com/.
   

• UNIX

  • gzipped files
    gunzip catalogue_identifier.gz
  • tar gzipped files
    gunzip -c catalogue_identifier.tar.gz | tar xvf -
  • jar gzipped files
    gunzip -c catalogue_identifier.jar.gz | jar xvf -
  • zipped files
    unzip catalogue_identifier.zip
